When Govinda ji, Amitabh Bachan, Sunny Deol, Sanjay Dutt, Suneel Shetti and other similar filmstars, old and new, were enjoying superstardom and peek of name and fame, Salman Khan was growing as a common main rloe player, hardly called hero, in various categories all the way from comedy character to a love story hero. Amir Khan and Shahrukh Khan were vividly shining a little bit brighter although the movie "Main ne pyar kiya" had given Salman an outstanding position. Salman, however, was still to climb up a long way.
Soon Salman made his place among box office hit stars, but still "just famous and doing well".
When some flaunting fighters like Rajnikant and Kamal Hasan, and bodybuilders like Hritik Roshan hit the silverscreen, it looked as if Salman's journey upwards had almost stopped. But there seemed no stepping down with some movies like "Hum sath sath hain" and "Hello brother" etc.
Salman Khan suddenly shook the film lovers with his totally different, more mature and examplary evergreen movie "Garv". I don't know about others, but I still watch it whenever it is telecast. That was perhaps a kick to Salman's showbiz career... at least as I believe.
Then on, Salman started to give away stunning movies and the number of his fans grew bigger and bigger and bigger. Examples include Tumko Na Bhool Paengay, Tere Naam, Dabangg, Dabangg 2, Ready, Bodyguard, Ek Tha Tiger, Veer, Jai Ho and Kick. Critics say the stories of some of these films are exact copies of films released in other languages such as Marathi and Telgu. But the point is that... we don't care... Salman has entertained us far better than othets through his well established movies. I don't care how much business these movies did, but they placed Salman Khan at such a height of Bollywood that past competitors of great worth still use telescopes to have a glimpse of him. Even the lover boy... the King (Shahrukh) Khan couldn't stay at competing position with Salman.
Here is where Salman gained a strong, long lasting monopoly in true sense and here is where he developed... STYLE !!!
